Bylaws of the Committee of Electrolytic Science and Technology

of the Electrochemical Society of Japan

Article 1 (Name)

The name of this committee is the Committee of Electrolytic Science and Technology of the Electrochemical Society of Japan (the “Committee”).
The official English name is The Committee of Electrolytic Science and Technology, abbreviated as CEST.

Article 2 (Nature and Purpose)

The Committee is an association of individuals from industry, government, and academia with an interest in advancing electrolytic science and technology.
Its purpose is to promote the development of this field through the exchange of knowledge and experience among members.

Article 3 (Activities)

To achieve its purpose, the Committee conducts the following activities:

  1. Organizing discussion meetings;
  2. Holding meetings, including research meetings, lectures, study tours, and related events; 
  3. Establishing subcommittees and similar bodies; 
  4. Sharing literature and distributing materials; 
  5. Undertaking other activities consistent with the Committee’s purpose.

Article 4 (Membership)

  1. The Committee consists of individual members and corporate members.
  2. Corporate membership is, in principle, registered per establishment, with each establishment appointing one representative member. 
  3. Individual members may attend meetings with colleagues from the same organization. 
  4. Representatives of corporate members may attend meetings with colleagues from the same establishment. 

Article 5 (Officers)

The Committee has the following officers:
one Chairperson; one Acting Chairperson; several Vice Chairpersons; Advisors; Auditors; Standing Committee Members; Planning Committee Members; and Financial Auditors.

Officers are elected by a vote of the members, and re-election is permitted.
The term of office is one (1) year for the Chairperson and Acting Chairperson, and two (2) years for all other officers.
The Acting Chairperson may also serve concurrently as a Vice Chairperson.
Terms may be extended when necessary for the proper operation of the Committee.

Article 6 (Membership Fees)

Members are responsible for the costs necessary for the operation of the Committee.

Admission fees:

  • Corporate members: JPY 10,000
  • Individual members: JPY 1,000

Annual membership fees:

  • Corporate members: JPY 25,000 per establishment; JPY 10,000 for each additional establishment 
  • Individual members: JPY 2,000 

The fiscal year runs from January 1 to December 31.

Article 7 (Honorary Members)

Members who have made outstanding contributions to the Committee may be designated as honorary members.

Article 8 (Fund)

The Committee may establish a fund, in accordance with separately prescribed rules, to support its activities.

Article 9 (Amendment and Abolition)

Any amendment or abolition of these Bylaws requires a resolution of the General Meeting and approval by the Board of Directors of the Electrochemical Society of Japan.

Supplementary Provisions

These Bylaws constitute the internal regulations of the Committee and are to be interpreted in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation and other relevant rules of the Electrochemical Society of Japan.
